…Another picture from my recent visit to The Cherry Blossom Festival. It is also another example of how much I like to observe first, and shoot the photo only when I feel I understand what I am looking at!
This flute player was beautiful, enchanting and elegant in that she moved with such sureness, precision, and grace yet never opened her eyes to check her ‘progress’ through the parade route!
It was glorious to behold and spoke volumes to her confidence and trust in the senses guiding her walking and playing, in my humble obzervashun!
As a musician, this ‘zone’ is something we all aspire to, the sense that you’ve set aside thought and doubt in favor of simply knowing what is next and trusting that ‘next’ to lead you onward.
I look forward to the day when my Shakuhatchi flute playing resembles this wonderful player’s. I look forward to the day I play eyes closed, completely sure of the next step, and the next!
