A Study in Elegance

If I could have given out my own awards at the recent Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, this beautifully serene participant would have received my ‘A Study in Elegance Award’.

From the moment she came into view, not only did she have the dance moves down, she never once let that wonderful smile leave her face. You just knew she was deep in the enjoyment of the moment.

I like to believe that at each new juncture, the crowd, sensing something ‘different’, gave a bit more attention to this lady, quietly willing her to dance and smile in their direction before she drifted on down the parade path.

I know I did!

(additionally)

The poem from the great Lao Tsu actually goes like this:

Express yourself completely,

then become the quiet.

Open yourself to heaven and earth,

and be like the forces of nature:

when the wind blows, there is only the wind;

when it rains, there is only rain;

when the clouds pass,

the sun promises to shine.

– Lao Tsu
