Shooting the Honey Moon in a Nighttime Sky

nighttime photography, honey moon,lessons,patience

I’m learning the ins and outs of nighttime shooting. The ‘Honey Moon’ helped, and hurt!

I’ll be the first to say, nighttime photography is a relatively new venture for me. I get easily intimidated when I think about setting up a ‘perfect’ shot at night. I’m such a ‘light guy’ with my cameras, I’ve made it unnecessarily challenging to come out at night and trust myself to remember what I’ve learned so far…. and to keep on learning!

Now, having said all that, I chose to post this picture, flaws and all only to say ‘we learn from our mistakes’. At least I know I will. This was the night of that recent Friday the Thirteenth ‘Honey Moon’. It was also waaay past my bedtime, but I reasoned this once I would get a decent night shot. The honey moon was there to help!

I’ve got a ways to go, I know ,but I’m actually OK with this knowledge. In the foreseeable future, I’ll post a shot of the actual moon, all alone and up close from this night/early morning session.

Dare I say it, I am very pleased with what I accidentally managed to shoot!
