Today this poem really struck me. I’m just feeling a little heavy hearted, as if everything going on in the world is just a bit too much. I feel like we really need to be there for each other, right now, and always.

Keeping Quiet
by Pablo Neruda

Now we will count to twelve
and we will all keep still.

For once on the face of the earth,
let’s not speak in any language;
let’s stop for a second,
and not move our arms too much.

It would be an exotic moment
without rush, without engines;
we would all be together
in a sudden strangeness.

Fisherman in the cold sea
would not harm the whales
and the man gathering salt
would not hurt his hands.

Those who prepare green wars,
wars with gas, wars…

    • I remember seeing that movie many years ago! It was an excellent film and if I am not mistaken, won Best Foreign Film at the Oscars?. I’ll have to find it again to refresh my memory!
