Every so often as a photographer an image, a statue, a sculpture speaks to me in ways that defy words. This is one such statue. I came close to running into it, not knowing it was there. Once I realized what it was and who it paid tribute to, I decided to spend some time really looking at and experiencing it.
I find this statue, dedicated to the memory of one of modern times’ most well known champions of peace, Mahatmas Gandhi, to be at once powerful, beautiful, thought-provoking, and just plain humbling. I won’t write a long piece detailing his life and accomplishments.
UPDATE: Having looked at the words immediately preceding these words, I felt what I could do would be add a link to what I thought represented a ‘full’ look at Gandhi’s life and times. To learn more, please take a look at this link
I will say… looking again at this photo of the statue, no more words come to mind, but if you know of his life and how that life was lived, perhaps no more words are necessary…
