Black and White Photography: How Mini Parks Can Help Get Your Zen Back!

A small slice of zen in the midst of the city hustle.

Most people living here in San Francisco have spent at least a little time in the iconic and massive Golden Gate Park. If you live or work near the park, it’s foolish (in my obzervashun) not to partake occasionally. But what if your days keep you so far away from the G.G.P. you rarely get to see much real greenery?

One of the answers is a space like the one in the photo above, a mini park with seating, trees, and in this case a whispering waterfall. Sometimes these mini parks are a result of city planning, other times the businesses or individuals owning the surrounding property create them, realizing the aesthetic value as well as the mental/spiritual value they have for those who spend a good portion of the day at a desk or just indoors away from the light…

I get out in nature as much as I can. For those who don’t or can’t, I highly recommend seeking out one of the city’s many mini park spaces. A ten-fifteen minute break next to a tree-enclosed waterfall may just help you get your zen back!
