Here in the U.S., Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday in May. It’s a three-day marker of the beginning of summer, which for those experiencing nice weather could mean plenty of beach time and barbeques.
It’s also a national holiday of remembrance for those who gave their lives during times of war as members of the military. I took this photo a few weeks back and as is sometimes the case, didn’t use it right away, but set it aside with the idea that the right time and place would reveal itself.
With Memorial Day being tomorrow, it seems the perfect time to let this picture of the national cemetery in San Francisco’s Presidio represent not only those of this country who gave their lives fighting, but perhaps it can stand as a testament to ALL people across this globe of ours who fought, fell, and are gone but not forgotten.
