This photo is another case of ‘keep your eyes open and your camera at the ready’. You never know what’s around the next corner! I remember heading out into this sunny San Francisco Sunday morning hoping I’d stumble across a few interesting things to shoot.
The outdoor ceramics show being held across from the Asian Arts Museum that day proved just the ticket. In total there were about thirty or so artists showing their work. It didn’t take me long to find these unusual, colorful, intricate pieces. They were easily one of the standout collections on display.
The artist responsible for this incredible work is Calvin Ma. I didn’t meet him at the show. I couldn’t even tell you if he was there. I thought then as I do now it would have been nice to ask him what was the inspiration for the pieces.
Luckily, he does have a very nice website, which you can check out here. If you have the time, I highly recommend looking over his whole site. There’s lots to see from this extremely talented artist and yes, you come away with a very clear idea of who he is and why he creates what he does.
