Serena Williams: Tennis GOAT?

Serena Williams, mirror image, greatest of all time

Serena: Is she the greatest female tennis player of all time? She certainly belongs in the conversation.

She has been called the GOAT; greatest female tennis player of all time by some. Whatever stance you take on the legacy Serena Williams in the world of elite tennis, there’s little denying she’s left an indelible mark on the game.

Serena will be 35 years young in September of this year; her sister Venus 36  years young later this month. Both of these amazing women are very much still in the game; playing right now in the 2016 French Open. Both have just made it into the tournament’s third round unbelievably with the same two set winning scores of 6-2, 6-1.

I’d created this photo-graphic last year as a simple tribute to Serena and her incredible accomplishments. She stands on the cusp of tying the also great Steffi Graf of Germany with 22 Grand Slam Tournament Championships if she wins the French Open. Time will tell. I for one will be watching.

    • Ah, my friend! Good to hear from you. Yes, she has proved worthy of a tribute or two not only with her gameplay, but her courage, perseverance, and determination. If she wins at Roland Garros, I’ll do another tribute made specifically for the Paris clay. Have a blessed day, my friend.

  1. She has equalled Steffi Graf’s record of 22 grandslams now and she has a chance to win atleast 3-4 more majors. She is in great shape and she is still at the top pf her game and fairly well ahead of other WTA players.I would not be surprised if she beats the all time record of 24 Grand slams.

    • I wholly expect her to surpass Margret Court’s all time record of twenty-four titles. I think this one was the greatest hurdle for her psychologically. She’s done it and can now focus on staying healthy to beat the all time record. By the way, she recently pulled out of a match with inflammation in her shoulder. I hope it’s either a minor thing or simply a call for rest before the Olympics and U.S. Open?
