Hello Monday and welcome to a brand new week. Welcome also to a brand new ‘K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge’.
This week the challenge prompt is FUTURISM.
Now, what makes the topic FUTURISM a somewhat easier challenge than some of our earlier ones is any post based on an idea dealing with… the future qualifies as ‘challenge-worthy’.
In my search for a worthy definition, I decided to go with an actual artistic / social movement that came out of Italy near the beginning of the twentieth century.
The two areas of interest I focused on were technology and industrial design. Architecture has always been something I’ve had interest in, and when you couple this with concepts of futurism, well I came up with the following photo slideshow, taken at, of all places, the San Francisco main branch of the public library. I come here to write and research on a regular basis, but these shots represent one of the few times I showed up with my ‘serious’ camera.
Needless to say, the shots here are only a few of the thirty to fifty I took that day. I may have to do another post to spotlight some of the others.
Want to join in the challenge? It’s not too hard. Just create your post with a title similar to what I’ve done above or what my buddy Dale has got cooking over at his site
Copy the URL from your post’s address into the comment section of either this or Dale’s post, and don’t forget to add the #CosPhoChal tag to your tags so we and others can find you easily!
Show us your FUTURISM!
UPDATE:
Dale pulled no punches on this week’s challenge. Don’t believe me? Check out his entry right here
Speaking of showing us your futurism, here’s the awesome work KG came up with.
And not to be outdone, Sue created something very cool. See it here

Thanks. Easily one of my favorite bits of ‘futuristic design’ in San Francisco. Not sure why it took me so long to break out the camera?

…I was so focused on the second image, I almost missed the green glowing skull! Cool.

A homemade alien. It was made from a photo of a sculpture I took a few years ago (It looks nothing like that)

Inspiration can come from any direction, right? We just need to stay open to it.

Impressive combinations of shapes and lines, lights and darks, and shades between! Great shots!

Thanks, Sue. It’s really cool work that always look amazing to my eyes. Now if I can just figure out a way to build a ‘miniature’.

A warehouse full of iPads running a vortex-based shrink ray-inducing operating system?

Something’s happening to your post. I’m getting a message it’s not available, so I can’t add a link or comment?

Obviously I went to bookstores instead of the library when I live in San Francisco. 🙂 A bit of the future with a homegrown flavor. 🙂 https://3rsofretirement.com/2016/08/15/klee-and-dales-cosmic-challenge-futuristic/

Really? No library trips? It’s my favorite way to travel. When you were here, did you have a favorite bookstore?

Seems to me I went to A Clean Well Lighted Place for Books at Opera Plaza a lot. Don’t know if it is still there. Close to where I worked. It’s been 25 years.

Great choice! It’s still there, under a different name, I believe. It’s a great space that always seems busy when I pass by.

I like the skylights photo a lot. There’s something almost organic in the curves. 🙂

It’s worth the trip to the library just for these amazing pieces of architecture. It’s beyond beautiful… and never gets tired…
