K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge: Portraits

Greetings and welcome to a brand new Monday. It’s time for a new ‘K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge today and my buddy Dale provided the latest prompt this past Friday:

PORTRAITS

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to suggest this word brings to mind for most people photos containing people. I suppose, now that I think about it a little more, you could create a portrait of just about anything, right? We support this by the way with our challenges…

I actually did choose a photo of three remarkable women I met one sunny, warm day in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

It was, I would learn later, a Nepalese celebration of the summer with fantastic music, dancing and beautiful costumes. The women in the following photo were passing me, returning to their celebration when I decided to ask for a photo. I was given this powerful pose seconds after asking…

Of course, I had no idea what I had until later in the day when I got home. Needless to say, I’m thankful to these women and to Prativa who took time to not only allow me to take a few photos of her and her family, but explained the reason for the celebration that day.

You can join us with your own version of a PORTRAIT that means something special to you by doing the following:

Create your post as you normally do. Give it a title similar to the one you see above or at Dale’s site. Copy the URL of your post and paste it into the comment section of either this or Dale’s post, creating a nice ‘pingback’ that allows others to quickly see your excellent work.

Lastly, add our #CosPhoChal tag to the tags you use for your new post and you’re done!

    1. Thanks, my friend. It was an extraordinary moment in a great afternoon of picture-taking. The women were so gracious, proud, free, and agreeable to me taking their photo. It’s easily my favorite portrait shot ever shot!
