K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge: The Story Behind the Photo

prompts, challenges, photography, creativity

Monday, Monday. Another one is upon us, and with it another K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge unveiling.

The latest prompt creation fell to me and this past Friday, I left you all with the following to stew over through the weekend:

As is often the case for me, I like letting the idea of which photo to ‘compose’ for the challenge to suggest itself to me. I’ll give myself the full weekend to ponder what I’m going to do and this weekend was no exception.

Let me first say you can catch a gander at what my buddy Dale came up with over at his site right here.

As for me, I’ll give you the story first:

It was nighttime and I’d been out with the camera photographing the moon for a series I was working on at the time. Once done, I headed home and came across first the sound of running water, then traffic and honking car horns plus lots of loud talking punctuated by occasional laughter.

I initially thought the scene below was only a capture of the burst pipe, the men working to correct the situation and the traffic moving around the scene.

Once home, I loaded all the shots onto my computer and with the larger screen, noticed the ‘woman on the wall’ above and to the left of the men and their burst pipe. Bringing the whole thing together for me was the Fortune Teller sign above the woman’s head!

what do you think?

The Fortune Teller

If only you’d asked me…

So. There you have it. My take on ‘The Story Behind the Photo’. The latest in the ongoing ‘K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge’

Wanna join us?

It’s not hard. Here’s what you need to do:

Create your post as usual. Title it similar to what you see above or at Dale’s site (related to the challenge!) Copy the URL of your post and paste it into the comment section of either this post or, again, Dale’s challenge post. This creates a ‘pingback’, allowing others to easily find your amazing work!

Lastly, be sure to use our #CosPhoChal tag, adding it to whichever other tags you use and you’re done!

  1. Fantastic photo, dude, there’s so much movement and atmosphere here.
But the thing that caught my eye wasn’t the woman on the wall, or the fortune teller sign, but that weird miniature parasol on a tripod in front of the digger (or backhoe, or whatever you call it over there), what IS that thing for?

    1. Funny for me is that I’ve walked past ‘the fortune teller’ many time in the early morning hours. It took this broken water main and the photo to make me see her in this new light!😊
