K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge: Strictly Elemental- Earth; Air; Fire; Water

New K n D Prompt Shot

The Elements, as we tend to think of them in a ‘traditional sense, is the topic of this third Monday of twenty-eighteen’s post here at Obzervashunal and at my buddy Dale’s site. For both of us, it represents the ongoing prompts Dale and I take turns cooking up in the, K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

This past Friday, it was my turn to come up with the weekly prompt and I found myself thinking about the elements and how I could transform them into a challenge worthy of their name(s).

As you more than likely know by now, today’s challenge is called:

STRICTLY ELEMENTAL: EARTH; AIR; FIRE; WATER

night gives way to the dawn…

Now, while it’s almost always the case I don’t know which photos, graphics, or combination of the two I’ll end up using. I’ll have some idea of the direction I want to take as I slowly build my challenge post.

So, with all that said, here’s what I decided on:

A quick breakdown of these shots would go something like this:

EARTH: While a tree stump may not be the best representation of the element EARTH, I’m thinking of its ROOTS and the connection they provide the tree (while live!) as a symbol of this element.

AIR: Ah. There no angel of the air like The Blue Angels.. um, in the AIR! If you’ve not had the chance to witness the amazing aeronautics these Navy flyers perform, you simply have NOT experienced AIR like I and countless millions around the globe have.

FIRE: Now, I wanted to use a more ‘traditional’ fire shot for this post, but had all kinds of trouble locating the exact photo I had in mind. As a second choice, I went with a shot that could just as well have been an AIR rep.

This ‘painted graphic’ was born out of a close to two hour ‘fire-in-the-sky’ show Mother Nature put on over San Francisco’s Ocean Beach one evening some time ago. There was no excessive heat or burning smells, but plenty of us at the ocean that evening thought there literally was fire in the sky…

WATER: I admit, probably the easiest element for me to drawn on and to go out to take photos of. I tell folks all the time, for me, being near the ocean (especially) is akin to a sacred experience. The ocean is where I feel my best, think my best, and relax into my best self.

I chose a WATER shot that’s had a little work done to it; making it a bit more curvy that the actual wave was at the time. I might lastly add, the waves at the ocean the day I took the original shot were on the DANGEROUSLY HIGH side. I had to retreat to higher ground a few times that morning, but I did get this shot so… all worth it!

And there you have it. My take on the four traditional/original elements.

What about you?

It’s never too late to join us on these challenges, and if you’re curious as to how that’s accomplished, well here’s all you need to do:

Create your post as you normally do. Title it in your own STRICTLY ELEMENTAL way. Once complete, copy your new post’s URL and paste it into the comment section of either this post or the challenge post you’ll find over at Dale’s site (linked above!). This creates what is fondly referred to as a ‘pingback‘, making it simple to find and admire your creativity!

Lastly, be sure to use our patented #CosPhoChal tag along with any other tags you like to use and you’re done!

Here’s to a great rest of your Monday and a phenomenal week ahead!

    1. Many people believe the sign Aquarius is a water sign because he’s depicted traditionally arriving a pitcher of water, but it’s an Air sign. That might explain your connection to the Air and Fire elements?
