A single word capable of holding myriad meanings for um, myriad people. I start the Monday post with this particular word because Mondays here at Obzervashunal, and at my buddy Dale’s site, are reserved for the unveiling of our latest, K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge… unveilings!
This past Friday, I offered up the prompt for said challenge, namely the term/word MYTHOLOGICAL.
Now, as I usually say when it comes to these challenges, I don’t start out with any preconceived notion on which images I’m going to use. I tend to let the time in between Friday and Monday inform me, just as many of you who choose to join in do. (I assume?)
Alright. So what did I finally decide on for this last Monday of January in the year twenty-eighteen?
I chose local architecture. Yes. Believe it or not, we here in the Bay Area have plenty of architectural sites that can be considered MYTHOLOGICAL. All I suppose I mean in saying this is we have lots of structures built in styles reminiscent of structures from the ancient world.
Now, I would love nothing more than to tell you we have PYRAMIDS here… hold on- actually, we do. I realize I added one to my Friday post. That one is called The TransAmerican Building. You’ll find it in the North Beach sector of the city of San Francisco, at the base of the Financial District.
No, I went and wanted something a little more… classical.
this is what I came up with:
Four images, all taken at The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The structure was built for the World’s Fair back in 1915. It’s been threatened with removal in favor of… hotels, or casinos, or other tripe, but fortunately it still stands and is a fantastic spot to hang out, read, walk, jog, watch migrating birds (!), and a host of other things.
I hope you can see why I decided on these shots for the challenge?
What about you?
Thinking about entering your photographic ideas on this challenging… ah, challenge?
It’s really not too hard. Here’s all you need to do:
Create your post as you normally do. Once it’s complete, copy the URL of your fresh challenge post and paste it into the comment section, along with a few words if you please, of either this post or the one you’ll find at my buddy Dale’s site (linked above).
Doing so creates something we like to call a ‘pingback‘; a link that speedily allows others to ‘ooh and ahhh’ over your genius. (seriously!!!)
Lastly, don’t forget to use our #CosPhoChal tag along with any others you care to use, and you’re all done!
Here’s to a MYTHOLOGICAL MONDAY for us all…
