K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge: The Look of Love

New K n D Prompt Shot

Greetings All, and welcome to Obzervashunal and another in me and my buddy Dale’s ongoing, K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

This past Friday, it was my turn to provide a prompt for the challenge being unveiled today. I figured with Valentine’s Day right around the bend (February 14th, to be exact!), a prompt in its honor was the right thing to do. I came up with:

Now, I’m aware Love, in and of itself- the word itself, has as many different, nuanced meanings to more people that this poor post could possible fit. It’s one of the reasons Dale and I like keeping the door wide open for any and all interpretations of our prompts.

Define it in any way you like, is what we say each week, and if we don’t actually put those exact words in the prompt each week, it’s what we mean… each week!

So, will the particulars out of the way and a brand new Monday unveiling officially underway, what s it I came up?

Something different…

Something beholden to the title of the challenge/prompt, but not necessarily in line with what I typically do each week.

I happen to be a big fan of a SONG that goes by the name, ‘The Look of Love‘. I’d take it further and say I’m a fan of three artists in particular who’ve recorded this song, so I figured, why not incorporate that into my challenge post and let it do ‘double-duty’, sharing these incredible artists’ interpretations of, in my humble obzervashun, one of the greatest songs about love ever bought to life?

The first of three belongs to a man with not only an incredible voice, but singular abilities as a songwriter, composer, musician, AND actor.

I’m talking about the remarkable Issac Hayes. Here’s his version

The second artist’s version I wanted to share- I first saw and heard on a DVD of a live show from Paris, France. I’ll admit that even though I’ve been a fan of hers for years, I had never heard her do this song.

This link is to a pretty cool video made for her album version. I’m speaking and writing of the beautiful and incredibly gifted, Diana Krall. Here’s her version

The third artist and their version of the song, ‘The Look of Love’ should and could be first mentioned, but irregardless to post placings, she is considered by many to have recorded the definitive version. I’m speaking of the one-of-a-kind vocal styling of Dusty Springfield. Here’s her version

Are there other great versions of this incredible ode to love out there?

You bet there are, and my hope in linking just three of them is you may be intrigued enough to seek them out.

The Interior of Things

While I’m a it, let me also mention the writer of this classic tune, Burt Bacharach.

If you don’t know his name, check him out. He written and arranged quite a few classics in his time, worthy of any music lovers time and energy.

So, there you have it- a few photos and a little music for the latest K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

The only thing missing? YOUR creative input!

  1. I liked that photo with the huge moon. Dusty Springfield’s version of the song is my favorite as well. Susanna Hoffs did a version as well which I found on YouTube that is pretty good. I also liked Issac Hayes variation of the song that you linked.
