Greetings and Welcome All.
I won’t lie. It’s been a strange week; strange on a couple levels.
Living and working here in the Bay Area of California with record-breaking fires doing lots of damage… I’m here to admit, events such as these aren’t always easy to process or wrap one’s head around.
As a bit of an update/ slice of welcomed news, much needed rain is on the way, and yes, it will be helpful to those devastated areas mentioned above.
Here at Obzervashunal, and at my buddy Dale’s site, we do a weekly prompt for our ongoing, K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge. Did these California fires influence my choice of prompts for the week?
I chose the following:
THE LOOK AND FEEL OF GRATITUDE
To be honest yet again, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to say to this prompt even though it sort of sprang up from my brain…
As images go- the ones I decided on for this challenge anyway, I finally chose to keep them simple. I figured both Dale and I do enough ‘cosmic-related’, effects-driven, really-out-there’ types of shots at other times, this one could be kept kind of simple.
These shots are what the prompt, The Look and Feel of Gratitude made me think of:
Here’s what I’m grateful for in not too many words:
People– Family, friends, co-workers (you know who you are!!!) Some of the amazing people I’ve been fortunate to meet not only in my ‘waking life’, but through the WP as well. Even the virtual interaction has a huge impact… if we allow it.
Witnessing the celebration(s) of cultures from around the world– It’s always been something San Francisco has gotten right in my humble obzervashun. I’m grateful for getting to witness this time and again in so many different ways.
Nature_ I’m sure many of you get this one if you’ve spent time going through my posts. Even when a camera is NOT in my hands, the nature on display at any given time of the year here in the Bay Area leaves me grateful and truly humbled.
My trusty camera(s)- I like to again think the pictures and the graphics created from some of those shots, say it for me. May these and many others become a part of the legacy I leave behind one day (hopefully no time soon!). I link these few shots to what I’m grateful for, but maybe… just maybe many years from now folks coming across some of my work will feel it- without my words describing it. Maybe they’ll simply pick up on what I’m trying to say here-in this post:
Last but certainly not least, living in this extraordinary City By The Bay- San Francisco’s been home for a while now, enough to truly call it and relate to it as ‘home’. I said it before, I’ll say it again, the smoke-filled skies we’ve been dealing with were nothing compared to what the people in and near those fire zoned dealt with, and in many cases, are still dealing with. Come hell or high water, as the saying goes, I’m grateful to call this place home.
I’m grateful for it all.
I know my words and photos can’t replace what’s been lost by so many here in California over the course of these few weeks, but I’m sending out the blessings and hopes for healing anyway.
Hoping the remainder of your Monday is filled with reasons to be grateful…
