Welcome to another Monday here at Obzervashunal and, with it being Monday, it’s also time for another unveiling of my buddy Dale’s and my latest, K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge!
Dale took the helm this week, and offered us the decidedly tasty prompt:
Now, as is just about always the case with me, inspiration may rarely be an issue, but CHOOSING a final photo or three can be, and this week’s prompt found me juggling more than a few ideas before I settled on the shot you see below:
The last time we used this particular prompt for a challenge, I went with a prepared meal; something basic that I’m likely to throw together when work and other life situations require basic solutions.
This time around, I decide to do a simple (!) roundup of a few of my staples; foods/ condiments I truly enjoy, and a few new foods I’m trying to incorporate into my mealtimes for various reasons!
The big green jug in the middle is a powered nutritional mix called Green Vibrance. Lots of vitamins, nutrients and probiotics for ‘gut health’. The makers recommend keeping it frozen so I do.
Life and/or breakfast should have some kind of cinnamon raisin toast (in my humble obzervashun!), and mine is a sprouted grain variety from a company called Food For Life. Fantastic taste, texture and…well, it’s sprouted!!!
The bottle of ripple is NOT booze, although with that name it could be. It’s actually a plant based ‘half n half’ non dairy creamer partly made from green peas! I know, sounds bizarre, but trust me you’d think it was dairy if I poured some in your coffee and didn’t tell you…
The yellow can on the right is a green tea from The Amazon called Yerba Mate. In it’s original state, it’s very popular in Brazil and other parts of South America. This one’s got cranberry and pomegranate added…yum!
At the top of the shot is a bag of… wait for it… KELP NOODLES. This one’s new for me. Something I’ve been wanting to try for a while now. I’m a big fan of various seaweeds so I’ll have to do a follow up once I’ve experimented with this.
There are a few staple spices here: Tumeric, Garlic, and Himalayan Sea Salt. I use all three on the regular.
Lastly in my food photo is a partial bag of Forbidden Rice noodles. Made from a deep purple rice originating in China, I’m a big fan because of the nutty taste and the… simplicity in preparing it.
So. There you have it. My take on this week’s food photo challenge!
We’ve got some great ones that have linked over at Dale’s site and hopefully they’ll be linked here soon after I post this.
For more info, just in case you still want to join in, head over to Dale’s spot on how to add your take.
In the meanwhile, here’s hoping everyone having a great start to their week!
